The British schoolgirl discovered a rare disease "hydrocephalus"
16-year-old Briton Samantha Meehan asked the ophthalmologist complaining of headaches, which she linked to the load on the eyes because of her studies. Performance tests, doctors discovered the girl hydrocephalus (water on the brain), and, the disease was already at the point where in a few days Samantha could lose vision.
Schoolgirl was rushed to hospital, where she was taken operation, during which doctors removed the excess cerebrospinal fluid accumulated in the cavity of the brain. For two weeks the girl was under the supervision of doctors, after which she was allowed to return home, writes The Daily Mail.
Samanthas parents report that raised the alarm after her father suddenly went blind in the past year as a result of another rare disease brain. At first they tied headaches daughter with stress due to college exams. However, when the treatment does not work, consult an ophthalmologist, believing that the girl need glasses, but the doctor immediately suspected that it was not in his eyes.
After surgery, Samantha was a long scar on his head and stomach, she is not allowed to take participation in contact sports, but, according to the girls, "she feels very happy," in fact still can see the outside world. Doctors have promised that Samantha full recovery within six months.
