Cholecystitis – inflammation of the gall bladder.
In 85-95% of cases of cholecystitis occurs in people suffering from gallstones. Other causes of the disease: cholestasis, bacterial infection, circulatory disorders of the gallbladder.
By clinical distinguish between acute and chronic cholecystitis.
Acute cholecystitis – in 90-95% of cases develop in the blockage of bile duct stones (in patients with gallstone disease), at least – from other causes.
The patients’ age – 30-80 years old (mostly). Women suffer more often. The majority of patients had had chronic cholecystitis.
Manifestations of cholecystitis:
Attack of pain in the right hypochondrium.
Then, nausea, and vomiting.
Over time, the patient’s condition worsens.
When these symptoms should seek immediate medical attention.
If time does not provide medical assistance, after 3 – 4 days after onset of the disease may develop a life-threatening complication, as peritonitis – inflammation of the peritoneum, which often leads to death.
Chronic cholecystitis – is less dangerous to life than acute, but chronic cholecystitis can produce acute (occur as acute cholecystitis), with all the ensuing consequences.
Patients of the same age, women suffer in 2 – 3 times more often than men.
Manifestation of the disease: mild recurrent pain in the right upper quadrant, nausea, rarely – vomiting, belching bitterness. Very often the symptoms appear after consuming fatty, fried or spicy foods.
For the diagnosis of disease today is the cheapest, informative and safe method is ultrasound (ultrasound) of the abdominal cavity.
Treatment of acute cholecystitis.
Treatment should be strictly in a surgical hospital, under the supervision of doctors!
Approach to treatment and, therefore, the choice of drugs – the individual and depends on many factors: the presence of concomitant diseases, how the main flows (cholecystitis) disease.
The basic scheme:
patient can be hungry for 3-4 days
cold (ice pack) to the anterior abdominal wall,
intravenous saline solution, 5% glucose solution, these solutions add antispasmodic, analgesic drugs (baralgin, Renalgan and others), which is also administered and intramuscularly, but calls for strong pain medication is contraindicated, because they hide the true picture of the disease
other drugs are prescribed if necessary.
If cholecystitis is the result of gallstones, and (or) treatment drugs did not help – need to do the surgery.
Treatment of chronic cholecystitis.
When considering treatment of chronic cholecystitis crucial presence of stones in the gall bladder (the presence of gallstones). If the stone is – needs surgery – if not common (conservative) treatment.
Today I will talk about the treatment of chronic acalculous cholecystitis.
Assigned a strict diet (table number 5) are excluded from the food smoked, spicy and fried foods, canned meats, strong cheese, cocoa, chocolate, alcohol. You can use products that have choleretic properties, but if they do not cause pain – boiled eggs in moderation, fresh unsalted butter, olive oil, milk, dairy products, lean meat (beef) and fresh fish.
Patients are encouraged to welcome choleretic drugs:
broths choleretic herbs: corn silk, flowers Helichrysum etc.
Additionally appointed other drugs for treatment of opportunistic diseases.
