British experts were sentenced in Russia and Ukraine: the flu epidemic will be the most powerful in recent times
Countries in the northern hemisphere, should prepare for an unprecedented surge in flu, British experts warn. These conclusions are made based on the situation in Britain, where the swine flu in December hit a record number of people, according to BBC.
European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control is sure a similar fate awaits the rest of Europe, including Russia and Ukraine. It is the latter two countries, the expected worst-case scenario. Simultaneously, the United States and Canada have reported increases in the incidence of influenza, reflecting the worsening situation.
In Britain this winter flu has killed 27 people, and the number of infected people is 87.1 per 100,000 population. Many people who are infected – young people. At particular risk are children aged 5-14 years. This feature of the doctors explain this: the elderly already have partial immunity against the swine flu, because they probably face similar strain many years ago.
Meanwhile, some experts do not see this as a tragedy. Professor John Watson commented: "The current level of influenza activity in principle, similar to the level that can be seen during seasonal epidemics of influenza. Rather, we are not confronted with significant activity pandemic strain. But still not enough people vaccinated. This complicates the situation ". p>
